Normal email is not secure.
Normal email is an aging technology invented in the early eighties for use by universities and academics. Efficiency, not security, was the main focus for its design. No one back then could foresee it's current popularity or abuse. By design, normal emails are capturable at every point between their senders and recipients.
How does PrivacyHarbor work?
Our secure messaging sets PrivacyHarbor apart from other secure email providers as we require no software or "encryptions keys". This makes sending a secure message as easy as sending a normal email. Secure Messages work by first encrypting and saving your sent message to our servers. The recipient of your message receives an invitation by regular email to view the private message and, with one click, they are taken to an encrypted web-page to view the message.
You send the message.A PrivacyHarbor user composes a message to a recipient's email address just as they would with normal email.
Recipient clicks the notice. The recipient will receive a notice in their email inbox. The notice tells them that they have a message from you waiting for them with a link to access it. The recipient then clicks the link in the notice to get to the secure message.
Recipient reads the message. After clicking the link, the user is brought to the message on the PrivacyHarbor.com web servers. They are then able to read the message and reply securely.
